How to Install a PHP Script in Less Than 10 Minutes

Installing a PHP Laravel script might seem technical, but with the right steps, you can get your site up and running in no time. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced web developer, this guide will walk you through two simple ways to install a Laravel script — manually or using a script installer.

Method 1: Manual Installation (Recommended for Custom Scripts)

This method is ideal when you’ve purchased a Laravel script from PHP King, CodeCanyon, or any other marketplace.

What You Need:

  • A shared or VPS hosting account
  • PHP 8.0 or newer (depending on the script requirements)
  • A MySQL or MariaDB database
  • Access to File Manager or FTP
  • The Laravel script zip file

 Step 1: Upload the Laravel Script

  1. Login to your cPanel or connect via FTP (e.g., FileZilla).

2. Go to File Manager and navigate to the folder where you want the website (usually public_html/).

3. Upload the Laravel .zip file and extract it.

4. If the extracted files are inside a folder like /script-name, move all contents into the root directory.

Step 2: Set Folder Permissions

Ensure these folders are writable:

/storage

/bootstrap/cache

Use File Manager or SSH:

chmod -R 775 storage bootst

rap/cache

Step 3: Create a Database

1. In cPanel, go to MySQL® Databases.

2. Create a new database.

3. Create a new MySQL user and assign it to the database.

4. Note the database name, username, and password — you’ll use them soon.

Step 4: Edit the .env File

1. Locate the .env file in the root folder.

2. Open and update the following lines:

DB_DATABASE=your_db_name

DB_USERNAME=your_username

DB_PASSWORD=your_password

APP_URL=http://yourdo

main.com

Step 5: Upload Database SQL File

In your cpanel, locate phpmyadmin, click and open it, locate the database you created , click on it you will see import option click on it , upload the SQL file

Go to your domain. If all steps were done correctly, your Laravel site should now be live! ?

Method 2: Installation Using Script Installer (Softaculous or cPanel App Installer)

Some hosting companies allow you to install Laravel with just a few clicks.

Step-by-Step (Softaculous)

1. Login to cPanel and scroll to Softaculous Apps Installer.

2. Search for Laravel and click Install.

3. Fill in details:

Choose domain and directory.

Set your admin email and site name.

4. Click Install.

Once installed, replace the default Laravel files with your custom script if needed, and follow the .env and migration steps mentioned above.

> ? Note: Softaculous installs a fresh Laravel app — it’s best for building from scratch, not for uploading a premade script. For custom scripts, use the manual method.
